WASA Bill — Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about checking, downloading and paying a WASA bill online — the same questions readers ask us most.

How can I check my WASA bill online?

Pick your city in the checker at the top of this page, enter the account or consumer number from your old bill, and press Check Bill. We take you to your city’s official portal, where your current bill — amount, due date and arrears — opens on screen.

What number do I need to check a WASA bill?

The number printed on any old bill for your connection. Lahore uses an 8-digit account number, Karachi (KWSC) uses a 12-character consumer number that starts with a letter, and other cities use their own consumer or account number. It is never your CNIC number.

Is the online duplicate WASA bill valid for payment?

Yes. The duplicate bill shown on the official portal is a full copy of the original — same number, same amount, same due date. Banks, bank apps, Easypaisa and JazzCash accept it for payment.

Can I check a WASA bill by CNIC or mobile number?

No. None of the city portals offer a CNIC or mobile-number search. You must use the account or consumer number of the connection. If you have lost every old bill, contact your city WASA office or call the helpline listed for your city.

How can I pay my WASA bill online?

Open your bill first, then pay from your bank’s mobile app, Easypaisa or JazzCash: choose bill payment, select your city’s water authority (WASA / KWSC), enter the reference or consumer number printed on the bill, confirm the amount and pay. Karachi’s KWSC bill page also offers JazzCash payment on the portal itself.

What happens if I pay after the due date?

A late-payment surcharge is added and the ‘payable after due date’ amount on the bill applies. Paying a few days early is the simplest way to avoid it — you can set a monthly reminder with the tool on this page.

My bill is much higher than usual. What should I check?

First check for arrears carried from an unpaid month and for a leaking tap, tank or underground line at home. Then compare the reading / charges on the bill. If it still looks wrong, lodge a complaint with your city WASA — the complaint page on this site lists the route for each city.

Is this the official WASA website?

No. This is an independent guide. We do not issue bills and we never see your bill. The checker simply checks your number’s format and opens the official portal of your city’s water authority, where the real bill lives.

How do I download or print my WASA bill?

Open your bill through the checker, then use the Download or Print option on the bill page. You get a PDF copy with the same details as the printed bill, which you can save on your phone or print for a bank payment.

Can I see my old WASA bills online?

Yes, for most cities. The same consumer number that opens this month’s bill also shows your billing history and past bills on the portal, so you can compare months and check whether an old payment was recorded.

Can I change the name on my WASA bill?

Yes. After a sale or an inheritance, apply at your authority’s office with your CNIC, the property papers (registry or allotment letter) and the latest paid bill. Any outstanding dues must be cleared first. The new name starts printing from the next billing cycle, and your account number stays exactly the same.

I paid my bill but it still shows as unpaid. What should I do?

Do not pay again. Most bank and wallet payments post within a day or two, so wait for the next bill. If it is still missing, take the transaction ID and the receipt to your bank first, then to the authority’s revenue office, and ask for the payment to be posted to your account. Keep paying each new month separately while it is traced.

Will WASA cut my water connection if I miss one month?

In practice, no. One missed month becomes a surcharge, and then arrears on the next bill. Disconnection comes much later, after repeated non-payment and notices. If you are behind, clear the oldest month first so the balance stops growing.

I am a tenant. Should the WASA bill be in my name?

No. The connection stays in the owner’s name, and you pay against the same consumer number. Check the duplicate bill online before you pay your share, and keep your own copy of the paid bill — it protects you if the same month is ever demanded twice.

Still stuck?

If your number is not accepted by the portal, check it digit by digit against an old bill. If it still fails, your record may need updating at the WASA office — take an old bill and your CNIC. City helplines are listed on the complaint page.
