WASA Jobs 2026 – Latest Water and Sanitation Agency Jobs in Pakistan
If you want a government job that stays in demand, WASA is one of the names worth watching. The Water and Sanitation Agency runs the water supply, sewerage and drainage of Pakistan’s big cities, and its offices hire everyone from engineers and clerks to drivers, computer operators and sewermen. This page explains how WASA hiring really works — city by city — what the posts, eligibility and pay look like, and how to apply without falling for a fake advertisement.

Why WASA jobs attract so many applicants
WASA is a government organisation, and that single fact explains the queues. A government post brings a salary paid on official scales, a clear promotion ladder and far more security than most private work of the same level. Every new advertisement — even for a few dozen temporary posts at a district office — draws applications from across the district, because for many families a WASA job is the step from daily uncertainty to a settled income.
Latest WASA jobs 2026 — hiring is city by city
There is no single WASA head office that hires for the whole country, and no central application that covers every city. Each WASA — and each district office — announces its own vacancies when it needs staff, in its own advertisement, with its own last date. That is why a job seeker who only watches one website misses most of the openings: the right habit is to follow the offices you can actually work in. The pattern of recent drives at the district offices looks like this:
WASA Rajanpur
Hires mostly on short work-charge contracts of around 85 days — sub engineers, junior clerks, junior computer operators, drivers and bill distributors — filled through walk-in interviews at the local office rather than a written test.
WASA Chakwal
Has leaned towards technical hiring: graduate engineers (civil, with PEC registration), a GIS expert for mapping work, and sub engineers holding a three-year DAE in civil with municipal or water-sector experience, again mostly by walk-in interview.
WASA Multan
Known for large sewerman recruitment on daily wages — sometimes dozens of posts in a single drive, open to literate candidates with a Punjab domicile, with applications sent by post to the Director (Works) office.
WASA Gujrat
Usually mixes engineering and revenue posts in one advertisement — graduate engineer, revenue officer, sub engineer, surveyor, draftsman — with preference for candidates who already have field experience.
WASA Bhakkar
Has run some of the biggest district drives, at times more than forty temporary posts at once, from assistant directors for procurement, engineering, IT and legal to junior clerks, computer operators, drivers and support staff.
WASA Jhelum
Occasionally advertises specialist posts, such as a junior research officer for its water-testing laboratory — the kind of role that asks for an M.Sc or BS in Chemistry with laboratory experience.
WASA Mandi Bahauddin
Has advertised sizeable batches of short work-charge posts — engineers, accountants, sub engineers, computer operators, sewer supervisors, drivers, sewermen, mechanics and tube-well operators — selected through walk-in interviews.
WASA Rahim Yar Khan
Has recently taken graduate engineers and junior computer operators on temporary daily wages through walk-in interviews, generally for Punjab-domiciled candidates in the 20 to 45 age bracket.
WASA Khushab
Tends to advertise a broad mix in a single notice — engineering, IT, clerical, driving, electrical and sanitary staff — open from matric to bachelor level.
Chiniot, Lodhran, Wazirabad, Attock, Layyah & Narowal
These district offices follow the same pattern: temporary, work-charge vacancies for support and technical staff, announced locally and filled through walk-in interviews when the need arises.
WASA offices across Pakistan
WASA grew out of Lahore, where it was first set up in 1976 under the Lahore Development Authority. Today the five big metropolitan WASAs work under their city development authorities, and a ring of district offices across Punjab announces its own local hiring. Karachi’s water employer is the KWSC and Hyderabad’s is its own WASA — separate organisations with their own recruitment.

Common WASA job positions
A water agency is not only engineers. It bills a city every month, runs pumping stations and tube wells, lays and repairs pipelines, tests water in laboratories and answers the public — so its advertisements cover four broad families of posts:
| Post family | Roles you will see advertised |
|---|---|
| Technical | Graduate Engineer, Sub Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), Assistant Director Engineering, GIS Expert, Surveyor, Draftsman |
| Administrative | Assistant Director (Finance, Legal, IT), Accountant, Computer Operator, Junior Clerk, Recovery Officer |
| Revenue & billing | Revenue Officer, Billing Supervisor, Bill Distributor |
| Field & support | Sewerman, Sewer Supervisor, Driver, Site Supervisor, Tube Well Operator, Mechanic, Chowkidar |
That spread is the point: there are posts for matric-pass candidates, intermediate-pass candidates, graduates and engineers alike. If you hold a diploma, a driving licence, a bachelor’s degree — or simply the fitness for field work — some WASA advertisement, somewhere, is written for your level.
WASA jobs by qualification
Matric candidates
Sewerman, chowkidar, bill distributor and helper posts usually ask for a matric certificate at most — some field roles need only literacy — plus the physical fitness the work demands.
Intermediate candidates
Junior clerk and computer operator posts typically ask for intermediate, sometimes with a short computer course or a typing speed named in the advertisement.
Graduates
Revenue officer, accountant and assistant director posts generally ask for a bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject from an HEC-recognised institution; commerce and related fields fit the accounts and revenue side.
Engineers and diploma holders
Graduate engineer posts need an engineering degree, usually with PEC registration. Sub engineer and site supervisor posts are built for the three-year DAE in civil, electrical or mechanical technology, often with site experience preferred.
WASA jobs eligibility — the general pattern
Every advertisement writes its own rules, and two posts with the same title in two cities can differ. But recent WASA notices across Punjab follow a recognisable pattern:
- Education — set by the post, from literacy for field work up to a master’s degree or professional qualification for specialist roles.
- Age — most general and technical posts fall between 18 and 40 years, with the age relaxation allowed under Punjab Government policy; some senior specialist posts allow more.
- Domicile — a Punjab domicile is asked for in almost every advertisement, and district drives may prefer their own district.
- Experience — fresh candidates are welcome at entry level; technical and supervisory posts usually want a few years in similar work.
- Documents — CNIC, domicile certificate, educational documents, experience letters where needed, and recent passport-size photographs.
WASA salary — three different systems
“What is the salary?” has no single answer, because WASA pays under three different systems and the advertisement tells you which one a post belongs to:
Regular BPS posts
Permanent departmental posts — junior clerks, computer operators, revenue officers and the like — are paid on the Government of Punjab Basic Pay Scale for their grade, with the usual government allowances, and carry the long-term benefits of regular service, including pension.
Daily wage & work-charge posts
Many field and support vacancies are temporary: a fixed short engagement, often around 85 days, paid at the official daily wage rate rather than a monthly scale. They bring wages for the contract period only — no long-term benefits, and no right to claim a permanent post afterwards.
Project (PPS) posts
Senior specialists hired for a donor-funded project or a project management unit are paid on a contract-based Project Pay Scale — a higher, market-linked package for the life of the project, without the permanence of a BPS post.
So never compare two WASA posts by title alone. A “sub engineer” on a regular scale and a “sub engineer” on an 85-day work-charge contract are different jobs in everything but name — the advertisement’s pay line is where the truth sits.
How to apply for WASA jobs 2026
Most district hiring is done through walk-in interviews. Bigger branches and regular posts may instead run through the Punjab Job Portal or PPSC. Either way, the method is the same disciplined routine:
- Read the full advertisement for your city office. Note the post, the number of seats, the job type (regular, contract or daily wage) and the closing date.
- Prepare your documents before the day: CNIC (original and attested copy), domicile, educational certificates, experience letters if the post asks for them, and recent passport-size photographs.
- Check which method the advertisement orders — walk-in interview, online application through the Punjab Job Portal or PPSC, or application by post — and follow exactly that method.
- For a walk-in interview, reach the named WASA office on the announced date and time with your CV and all original documents. Late arrivals are routinely turned away.
- For an online application, submit well before the closing date. Portals jam on the last day, and a late government application is almost never accepted.
- Keep your copy of the application or the interview slip safe. You will need it for the test letter, the merit list and any query afterwards.
Documents you will need
- CNIC — original plus attested copies
- Domicile certificate for the province / district the advertisement names
- Educational certificates and marks sheets, from matric onwards
- Experience certificates, where the post requires experience
- Valid driving licence, for driver posts
- PEC registration, for engineering-grade posts
- Recent passport-size photographs
Keep the originals safe and send copies unless the advertisement explicitly asks otherwise; originals are normally checked at the interview and verification stage.
The selection process
For regular posts recruited through a commission or portal, expect the full sequence: applications are screened against the eligibility rules, a written or skill test is held where the advertisement announces one, shortlisted candidates are interviewed, and original documents are verified before the final merit list. Work-charge and daily-wage hiring is shorter: many such drives are settled by the walk-in interview and document check alone, with no written test at all. Either way, a candidate can be dropped at verification if the qualification, domicile or experience on paper does not match the advertisement — which is why honest documents matter more than a good interview.
How to spot a fake WASA job advertisement
- The post cannot be traced to an official portal, commission, agency website or a newspaper advertisement from the office itself.
- You are asked to send a “fee” to a personal mobile wallet or a private bank account. Official fees, where they exist, go through the method printed in the advertisement.
- Someone promises selection in return for money. No WASA officer or agent can sell a government post.
- The notice has no closing date, no advertisement number, or a date that keeps changing in forwarded images.
- The contact is only a WhatsApp number with no office name or address behind it.
If two of these appear together, walk away. Real WASA hiring is boring, paper-heavy and traceable — that is exactly what makes it real.
WASA jobs — common questions
Are WASA jobs government jobs?
Yes. The WASAs are public-sector agencies working under the development authorities and the Government of Punjab, so WASA posts are government posts and recruitment follows government rules.
Are all WASA jobs permanent?
No. Regular posts on the Basic Pay Scale are the permanent track. A large share of advertised posts are work-charge or daily-wage appointments for a fixed period — often around 85 days — and the advertisement says so clearly. A temporary post does not become permanent on its own, so read the job type before you apply.
What qualification do I need for WASA jobs?
It depends entirely on the post. Field and support roles may need only literacy or a matric certificate. Clerical posts usually ask for intermediate, revenue and accounts posts for a bachelor’s degree, and technical posts for a DAE or an engineering degree — with PEC registration for graduate engineer posts.
What is the age limit for WASA jobs?
Most recent advertisements keep general posts between 18 and 40 years, with the age relaxation that Punjab Government policy allows, and higher limits for some senior or specialist posts. The limit printed in the advertisement for your post is the one that counts.
How do I find the latest WASA jobs?
Use the Apply For Wasa Jobs button on this page for the official EPR department list, and also check the Punjab Job Portal, PPSC and your own city office’s notices. There is no single announcement date — each office advertises when it needs staff.
How do I apply for WASA jobs?
Follow the method printed in the advertisement: a walk-in interview with your documents, an online application through the Punjab Job Portal or PPSC, or an application by post to the office named. Never apply through an agent, and never pay anyone who promises selection.
Can fresh candidates apply for WASA jobs?
Yes — entry-level and support posts regularly take fresh candidates where the advertisement asks for no experience. Engineering, supervisory and specialist posts usually ask for a few years of relevant work.
Is there a fee for applying to WASA jobs?
Walk-in and work-charge hiring normally carries no application fee. Where a recruiting body like PPSC charges a fee, it is stated in the advertisement and paid only through the official method named there — never to a personal mobile account.
